I have learned the differences of a Static and Dynamic Web, the key features of Web 2.0 and the problems of Web 3.0 also known as Semantic Web anb its requirements. The Hyper Text Mark-up Language(HTML) and Cascading Style Sheet(CSS). The six types of Social Media that is also very important and is really useful for us to be able to relate our own environment,  for us to create and share content or participate in social networking. Social networking for expanding businesses, book-marking site for sharing links, microblogging for making short or frequent posts, social news for user-posted stories, sharing media for storing and sharing multimedia files and blogs and forums for dispalying posts.

We are also conducted to make an interview about business on how mobile technologies or mobile devices helps business persons to expand their very owned businesses through the help and through the connections of social networking sites such as facebook, google+ and twitter. We are also challenge to make an article about the given topics and I choose among the five the article about Animal welfare and ridhts, an article about the role of ICT in recent history about the EDSA (People Power Revolution), EDSA Dos, MIllion People March and lastly the Yolanda People Finders. We’ve been also created a sequence of words, pictures and our own story  through presentation.

Most of us got our hopes but still continued trying our really best to pass it before the deadline. I am very greatful to have a teacher that really tried her really best just to make us understand her lessons and helps us to learn more informations that we can use in our daily lives. I am greatful because, I have learned all the lessons about the Empowerment Technology that is very important. Because of E-tech my learning experience have been expand and gives me opportunity to improve collaborative and communiocation skills, experimentation skills, and exploration to discover results in my own.

The Small Business Venture and Its Relationship to Competition

In economics, “competition” is the rivalry among sellers trying to achieve such goals as increasing profits, market share, and sales volume by varying the elements of the marketing mix: price, product, distribution, and promotion. Merriam-Webster defines competition in business as “the effort of two or more parties acting independently to secure the business of a third party by offering the most favorable terms”.

It may be hard to believe, but competition is good for you. It drives innovation, inspires perseverance and builds team spirit. And that’s not all. Many times, the presence of competition increases the market for everyone. For instance, when a Wal-Mart goes up on the edge of a small town, not all local businesses get hurt. Nearby restaurants, gas stations, jewelers and personal service providers such as hair salons benefit from added traffic and, often, higher sales than before.

Of course, competition isn’t all good. While using the presence of threatening rivals to focus and motivate employees, you also have to make sure your competitors aren’t going to steal your customers. Meanwhile, you’ll be doing everything you can to grab sales from your rivals. Step one in both of these processes is to identify and know your competitors.

Role of ICT during Yolanda People Finder

download (1)

Recent storms in Philippines history gave birth to the People finder database powered by Google. During typhoon Yolanda, the people finder was a vital tool for people across the globe to track the situation of their relatives. This proved to be successful and is now adapted by more organizations to help people track relatives during calamities. About 1,200 people are believed to have died in just two provinces when one of the strongest global storms ever recorded hit the Philippines, the head of the local Red Cross said on Saturday, November 9. The Red Cross figure was far higher than the 138 that the national disaster risk management office reported as of 6 pm Saturday, based on confirmed cases from its local offices in those areas – Leyte and Eastern Samar, the worst hit in the Eastern Visayas region.

MANILA, Philippines – The total cost of damage wrought by Super Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) has risen to P9.46 billion. In its November 16 morning update, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said P9.09 billion of this accounts for agricultural losses. Damage to infrastructure now amounts to more than P371 million. At the same time, a week after Yolanda devastated parts of the Visayas, the count of the dead has slowed down. Twelve hours after its last update, the NDRRMC added only 12 casualties to its last count. From a deathtoll of 3,621 in its November 15, 8 pm update, the number of casualties stands at 3,633 as of 8 am of Saturday, November 16.

The losses from Yolanda, said to be the strongest storm to make landfall were reported from the following regions: Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol, Western Visayas, Eastern Visayas, Central Visayas and Caraga.

Rice was the hardest hit crop. A total of 155,366 hectares of land planted with rice was affected. The council pegged production loss at P7.7 billion.

The United Nations said the Philippines will need US$301 million (P13.1 billion)to rehabilitate and recover from the disaster. So far, 40 foreign governments and 21 international groups have pledged aid. See the list here.

Earlier, President Benigno Aquino III downplayed early estimates by local officials of 10,000 dead. He said the number was most likely between 2,000 and 2,500 only. On Friday, a police general who claimed 10,000 people might have been killed was relieved from his position.

Aid needed, problems faced

The 1.9 million displaced are now being served inside and outside evacuation centers. A total of 422,290 are inside 1,142 evacuation centers.

These evacuation centers depend on a steady stream of relief goods to provide basic needs to refugees on a day-to-day basis. In Eastern Samar, Guiuan town airport is being used as a hub for relief goods. For the affected areas in northern Cebu, the hub is Cebu City. In Leyte, relief goods are being sent to airports in hubs like Tacloban City and Ormoc.

Million People March (Role of ICT)

download

This is a series of protest that mainly took place in Luneta Park from august 22 to 26, 2013. There were also several demonstrations that happened around key cities in the Philippines and some location overseas. The organizers and promoters of the Million People March used Facebook and Change.org as their, mediums. Hundreds of thousands of Filipinos gathered at Luneta Park on Monday to voice outrage at graft-tainted pork barrel fund in the largest demonstration since President Benigno Aquino was elected in 2010 on a platform to fight corruption.

It was most probably 60,000 to 70,000 during the rally. At most, I would say about 100,000,” said national police spokesman Reuben Sindac. Organizers said the rally drew as many as 400,000 people. The social media-fuelled rally dubbed the “Million People March” was emulated on a smaller-scale in other cities across the country and in various cities around the world where there are concentrations of Filipinos.

More than 800 police officers and marshals were deployed in key areas of the sprawling park, said Police Superintendent Mannan Muarip, Special Task Group commander. At least 180 soldiers served as backup force in Luneta and along Chino Roces Street (formerly Mendiola). Soldiers were unarmed and only “have their basic equipment such as shield and baton.” Thats is what Gonzales said they are not allowed to have firearms

Role of ICT in EDSA Dos

peoplepower2             EDSA People Power Revolution II, many or should we say most of the Filipinos today do not know what it is or what is the reason why there is EDSA People Power Revolution. EDSA People Power Revolution or (People Power) was a non-violent mass demonstration in three-day series that dictatorship Marcos installed Corazon Aquino as President in 1986. Throughout recent history, the Philippines have been one of a few nations that demonstrate unity for a call to action or social change. These campaigns social change would have not been successful if it were not for ICT. Iformation and Communication Technology have many contributions during EDSA Dos.

images
During EDSA Dos many people are gathered together. President Joseph Estrada walked out of the impeachment trial.  As a result, the crowd in EDSA grew over the course of a few days through text brigades.  Information and communications technology (ICT) – the mobile information and communications technology (ICT) – the mobile
phone – was the symbol of the People Power II revolution in the Philippines.  Arguably,
the most lasting image of Ms Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo’s new Presidency was when, on
being asked in a news conference whether a Lt. Gen. It was the use of cellphones for “texting” rather than calls that was the most
intriguing part of People Power II and was also the key to its success.
